Why I Miss Working At UVSC

29 Mar

Here is what we paid after insurance for each of our children.

Kaisa:

Hospital Co-pay #1 (I got sent home): $100

Hospital Co-pay #2: $100

Midwife Services: $0

Pediatrician: $0

Grand Total: $200

Everett:

Fiona’s Deductible: $1000

Everett’s Deductible: $308.15

Hospital Bills: $645.77

Midwife Services: $1088.49

Grand Total: $3042.41

It’s official: our insurance SUCKS!!!  (Luckily we chose to use Aflac for this pregnancy and were paid $3100…we just about broke even).

Just me pointing out the irony of this coming directly after a post about gratitude. Have we had better insurance? You betcha’! But it could be a lot worse, I’m grateful for the insurance we have.

Well, you are way now because now you have Everett! :)

How did I miss the work “ahead” in that sentence?! It was supposed to be:

Well, you are way ahead now because you have Everett! :)

Sheesh! Jamie asked me how much baby has cost me since being pregnant. Just from doctor visits and blood tests, I’m at about $150- 200 bucks. We’ll see how teacher insurance covers delivery. Maybe we should deliver at home. :) Don’t tell my mom.

    Dax:

    Pediatrician: $100
    Hospital bill: $1300 (after insureance)
    C section :$900 (before insureance it’s $3000)
this other bill not sure what it was for but that was $800

Kids are expensive to have let me tell you I got this all paid off in 10 months!!! Thanks to tax money…

Yeah, basically…I don’t feel bad for you. You have come out under $300 total for 2 kids!! You don’t realize how nice that really is. I don’t need to go into details or anything, but I pay our out-of-pocket max EVERY year. Just be happy that you didn’t have Everett early and pay for your medical bills like the rest of us do. :)

Ouch! I guess it is good that Heath re-enlisted in the army. Our babies are free for the next 6 years! :D
