Free Speed Reading Tool-Spreeder

Spreeder is a free online speed reading tool that can train you to see and comprehend words faster. The average person reads at about 200-250 words a minute, test yourself here. The default on Spreeder is 300, which may push you a bit but is still very doable. I’ve found I’m very comfortable around 450-500 range and the average for Spreeder users is nearly 550!

Simple but cool features make Spreeder an enjoyable and easy to use speed reader. Of course you can adjust the speed of the words and chunk size (maybe it’s easier for you to follow with 5 words displayed at a time, or just 1 at a time). Along with this the width at which they are displayed can be changed too. A few others, like alignment and color, make it fun to explore but overall I think there are just enough features for you to personalize it to the zenith of your enjoyment.

Now the bad news…One thing that I found annoying is that if I want to go in and change the speed (measured in WPM) it will reset the reading. There’s a slider bar at the bottom to find where in your article you were but how cool would it be to have a slider at the top to adjust the speed if you get to a difficult to understand or technical passage. Well…I must digress. Spreeder actually does have a partial solution for this. and it can be slowed down if it gets to big words but it does nothing for the overall speed. Once you find a comfortable speed though, this issue is negated.

A word count is and WPM is given to track your speed reading progress, which is great. I found myself whipping out a calculator to figure the time spent on my speed reading.Spreeder Screenshot After all, that’s what this is about, right? Also, I wish this was downloadable for those times I’m without an Internet connection when I need a speed reading tool.

Overall, I was really impressed with this nifty little speed reading tool. It’s helped me prepare lessons, read articles, and get the gist of things without spending too much time. Where to find this awesome free speed reading tool? Spreeder.com
