Potty Training
2 Apr
Having two kids in diapers has been more annoying than I thought it would be. I am SO sick of changing them, and even more sick of buying them! We must spend around 70 bucks a month on diapers. So, I’ve started thinking about potty training Kaisa and I think this summer is the time to do it. She’s shown signs that she is ready (wanting to come into the bathroom with me and flush the toilet, asking to go potty, sitting on the potty, staying dry for several hours at a time) and I want to take this window of opportunity while it is open.
So…here’s my question for all you moms who read my blog: what method worked best for you? I have been reading about the Diaper Free Toddlers method, and at first it didn’t appeal to me at all, because you have to let your kid run around naked from the waist down and accept the fact that you will be cleaning up their accidents off of your floor. But the more I read about it, the better I like it. Plus, I can keep Kaisa on the hardwood floors while we are doing it, saving my carpet…and it will be over in just a few days! I think I will end up doing this method, if I can fully convince Nathan. :)
Anyway, I am still open to other methods, so if you have something that really works, let me know! I’m trying to avoid rewarding her with treats or toys each time she uses the potty, so that she doesn’t come to expect it after she is trained. But I am open to just about any other technique. Thanks!
