My Headboard

24 Nov

My good friend Natalie is a very talented and crafty person and gave me the idea to make my own headboard for our bed.  We don’t own a bedroom set, and I wanted something to spruce up our bed, and our bedroom, a bit.  Overall, it cost about $100 to make and took about an hour to assemble (with three people).  Thanks to Nathan and my great sister-in-law Rachel for helping me make it!!

In case you can’t tell, the fabric has bamboo printed on it (we have an Asian theme going in our bedroom).  I found it at the Home Fabrics store by Michael’s on University Parkway.  If you want to learn how to make it, just go here: http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/content/0,21770,845160,00.html

Halloween (Finally)

24 Nov

Here it is nearly Thanksgiving, and I am just now getting my Halloween pics posted!  My life is crazy, what can I say?

For Halloween, Kaisa was a cute little bee, and Nathan and I dressed up as Juno and Paulie Bleeker from the movie “Juno.”

Juno Movie

I took Kaisa trick-or-treating at Nathan’s office in the afternoon.  She got the hang of things really quickly, and loved wandering through the office saying “treat!” and “thank you!” to everyone who had candy.  It was great!  The funniest moment was when she saw the guy who dressed up as Joker from Batman.  She looked at him for a few seconds, then immediately started crying and ran to me with her arms open.  It was sad, but so funny!  We couldn’t stop laughing!

Then we took her to the ward building to a Trunk-or-Treat activity.  Here are some pics from that event.

Kaisa loved Halloween (except for wearing her bee headband!) and made out with an awesome amount of candy!  She just barely finished it off yesterday.  She knew right where I kept it, and would always walk up and point to her pumpkin and ask for “nan-nan” (candy).  She’s asked several times today and I don’t think she understands that it’s really all gone!  Overall, we had a great Halloween!  Now on to Thanksgiving!

Family Pictures

Here are some pictures of the family together.  We had so much fun doing these!  Our photographer was Spencer Hall, he lives in our neighborhood.  Let me know if you would like his information!

Kaisa at 18 Months

We had some family pictures taken on my birthday.  We went with someone different this time to save a bit of money.  He did great!  We took these down at the BYU Arboretum, where the duck pond is.  Kaisa loved feeding the ducks (until they got too close!) and running around with mommy and daddy.  She is such a fun, energetic child and we love having her in our family!

Celebrating

8 Nov

It’s my 25th birthday today.  Wow, a quarter of a century!  My life has really been amazing so far.  I consider myself very blessed.  I have a wonderful husband who loves me and treats me so well, and a beautiful little girl with a TON of personality.  She makes me laugh every day.  All I have to do is ask her to say “pumpkin” (she responds with a resounding “MUNKA!) and I am rolling on the floor!  My extended families are so wonderful and supportive all the time, and I have one of the dearest group of friends I could ever ask for.  I am just very thankful, it being November and all.  So here’s how I am spending my birthday:

I woke up to this for breakfast!

Then, we went here
